Better inform about AIDS

Media professionals and civil society organizations from Benin and Togo are participating in a subregional workshop training four days, opened Monday in Lome, on the best way to inform in the field of HIV / AIDS. The workshop aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of these professionals in their work towards awareness African public opinion on the "feminization" of AIDS, combat stigma and prevent victimization of people. At the end of that meeting, it is expected of participants, who are mostly women, now treat HIV / AIDS issues from the angle and perspective "genre". Participants will discuss particular issues on the media and AIDS, professional standards and ethics, and how to inform without victimizing people living with AIDS. They also exchanged on the situation of AIDS in the world, in Africa and Togo, on the vulnerability of women and girls face of this disease and the legal instruments of reference. The meeting is being organized by the Inter-Network for Women, Media, Gender and Development (FAMEDEV), in partnership with the Togolese independent publication "Crocodile" and in association with the NGO Women, Media for Change (WOMEC) based in Ghana
