Pharmacists are hostile to free access to self
Many reasons base that opposition. The most obvious is that 68% of respondents believe that these drugs freely available eventually on the gondolas of supermarkets in the next few years, 36% of respondents report that an absolute conviction. The fact that another survey, conducted in January 2008 by Ipsos at the request of the association of pharmacists, has shown that price equivalent patients prefer to buy in a pharmacy, does not especially reassuring pharmacists to pharmacy. This certainty flee to see a portion of their sales leads to a negative judgement on the whole system: 71% believe that free access will not "reduce the price of medicines," 82% it does "not allow Social Security to save money" and 89% think it will even fewer "empower the patient on his medication." It is not surprising that pharmacists are not rushing to create a zone of free access to the products of self: one fourth (25%) reject the idea, one-third (31%) have not taken Decision and 23% are dragging their feet ( "yes, but not immediately"). In contrast, less than a quarter (21%) are going to carry out the work "very soon". Most pharmacists (55%) or are unwilling to wait to establish a zone free access; they justify this decision by the anguish of the likelihood of "dangerous behaviour on the part of patients' (52%). An argument that arrives ahead "lack of space" in the pharmacy (26%), "lack of information" on the modalities for the establishment of this zone (12%), or the "lack of interest" from clients (5%). Confusément, pharmacists feel that their advisory function is threatened. They basically ignore what will be the attitude of patients: 41% feel it will continue to seek advice, and 42% he will not. 43% believe that the board will take place at the time of payment and 49% that will be conducted on the same zone of free access. Three-quarters (74%) say they are so "worried" about the measure.
