Brussels is already spend 72 million euros to vaccination
The European Commission plans to allocate an initial budget of 72 million euros for the vaccination campaign planned in the EU to stop the spread of bluetongue, known disease of the tongue blue, which affects a significant portion of livestock. This envelope is designed to support national plans of emergency vaccination submitted by Member States. It will cover the acquisition of full doses of vaccine (up to 0.6 euro per dose of vaccine) and half of the costs of their administration to flocks (2 euros per cattle vaccinated, euro 0.75 per sheep or goat). The campaign over one year concerning the latest strains of this disease, which has more than twenty. Other strains oldest already have vaccines used in several countries. Currently, a dozen countries in the north of the European Union are affected. They are the ones who would be affected primarily by the vaccination to prevent the spread of the disease. This applies in particular to Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and the United Kingdom. In France, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, the mass vaccination campaign will begin in March for the vaccine Btv 1 (serotype 1) and April 8 for the Btv (serotype 8).
